You will be aware that Minister of Education Chris Hipkins announced yesterday the move to Orange on the Covid Protection Framework at 11:59pm last night. The decision to move to Orange has been made on public health advice, with case numbers declining due to high levels of vaccination and natural immunity after infection.
I wanted to update you on what the move to Orange means for our school from next term. At Orange, students aged 12 and above will still be required to wear a face mask on school or public transport. Furthermore, whilst masks are no longer compulsory our school expectation will be that students and staff continue to wear masks when indoors, particularly when working in close contact with others. Your support with this would be appreciated, particularly as this is a key way that we can continue to protect ourselves and show manaakitanga for each other. It will also be especially important with the winter cold and flu season also starting. We will also be continuing with good hygiene and ventilation measures to continue to play our part in reducing the spread of Covid-19 in our community.
Thank you for your continued support as we move through changes in Covid responses. We are very excited to be able to have all students back onsite and begin to arrange events for parents and our community back onsite at this level.
I do hope you all have a blessed Easter and enjoy your holiday break. We look forward to seeing all our students back onsite next term.
Ng膩 mihi
