Ata m膩rie
Kia kaha te reo M膩ori! Tino pai t艒 koutou mahi to all those involved in te wiki o te reo Maori this week 馃槉 Ka rawe!
Thank you all again also for your fantastic learning and support of our learners during these challenging times. It is very pleasing to see that 97%+ of our learners are engaging in at least one learning task each week. Both parents and students are encouraged to look at the Engagement Update information that is available from the portal. This will give you a good indication of how you are tracking in each subject.
How to find the engagement update:
- Go to the 海角社区 College website /
- Click on the ‘portal’ button (top right)
- Click on ‘sign in’ and enter your login details
- Click on the icon ‘Current Year Progress’
This shows you all the results from internal assessments for the year and also the external assessments that your student is entered for. Scroll to the bottom of this to find the ‘Engagement update’
If you have forgotten your login details - please send an email to [email protected] and these will be sent to you.
Covid update
At this stage, it is looking like we will be moving to Alert Level 3 at midnight on Tuesday so in preparation for this I am providing some additional information about what this will mean.
At Alert Level 3, you legally must stay within your household bubble unless for essential personal movement including going to work and going to school. Schools are essentially closed at Alert Level 3 with the exception of those few Year 9 and 10 students whose parents and carers must go to work at Alert Level 3, and there is no appropriate caregiver at home.
If you have a child in Year 9 or 10 that needs to attend at Alert Level 3 please email [email protected] now. Supervision will be provided between 9 am and 3 pm for this purpose. We will email students who have registered directly with the safety measures that will be in place to continue to ensure that we are able to support a safe learning environment for staff and students onsite.
Year 11 – 13 students are legally required to stay learning from home. We will continue to support all children who remain learning from home, through our distance learning programme.
Our contact tracing systems will be in place, which includes our attendance register and visitor register, and we will be limiting staff onsite with the majority of our team working from home.
You can also assist everyone’s safety by keeping your child at home if they are feeling unwell and contacting your GP or Healthline, to seek advice about getting tested.
I will be in touch again on Tuesday morning following the announcement by the Prime Minister on Monday.
2021/22 Student Election for the Board of Trustees
We have been advised by NZSTA that we need to ‘PAUSE’ the Student Election for the Board of Trustees while we are at Alert Level 4. We are awaiting further information about this process and will let you know the new timeline in due course.
Device Use expectations
Over the past couple of weeks, there have been a few more ‘google alerts’ as a result of students trying to access pages that are not allowed by the College filtering system. Students/parents could you please ensure that our College expectations when using a school device and adhered to at all times. These are important tools for your learning but must be used in keeping with our school value of Manaakitanga.
Student option selection for 2022
For students in Years 10 – 12 the subject option selection process opens next Tuesday 21st September at 9 am for 1 week. Deans have mentioned this at their Assemblies this week. On Tuesday morning next week all students in years 10 – year 12 will receive an email telling them how to login and select their options.
Mentor meetings
Your Mentor is again going to host an online Google Meet on Wednesday afternoon with you, please lookout for an email from your Mentor who will advise you of the time for your meeting. This will also be the opportunity to discuss your option selection for 2022 with your Mentor and get any questions you may have answered.
