Progress Reports / Engagement Update
Given the current situation, we will not be issuing Progress Reports at this time, however, we are working on an Engagement Update so you can see how you / your child is engaging/learning in each subject. We will give four grades:
- No contact to date
- Some engagement / participation
- Good engagement - some task completion
- Excellent engagement – all tasks completed
This will be published on the portal and we will let you know when it is available. Students – if you haven’t had the chance to make contact with your teachers as yet, please do so over the next week for this to be included on the update.
Mentor class Google Meet
All Mentor teachers will be holding a Google Meet with their Mentor classes next Wednesday afternoon (8 September). This will be a 20 min session so you can connect with your Mentor teacher and the others in your class. Please check your emails for further details, including the time for your class.
NCEA updates
NZQA has now confirmed that updates to NCEA for students in the Auckland region will be as follows:
- Learning Recognition Credits for every 5 credits earned up to 10 credits at Level 1 and 8 at Level 2.
- 46 credits required for Merit or Excellence certificate endorsement
- 12 credits required for Merit or Excellence course endorsement
- 12 credits required in a bundle for UE
Please continue to do your best to complete work set by your teachers during this time – any work that is handed in can be used as evidence against internal standards so this will definitely help you achieve your NCEA goals this year.
Alert Level 3
Some senior students have indicated that they would like to attend school at Level 3. As a reminder, school is only open for supervision of students in Years 9 and 10 whose parents are required to be working and have no other supervision options. When a change in Alert Level is signaled we will be in touch with all junior students to identify students that need to attend. Distance learning will remain in place throughout Alert Level 3.
Library update
You can now access the library catalogue, renew books and access some digital resources via a new 海角社区 College phone app. Instructions on how to download and use this app are available /learning-home/resources-support-student-online-learning

This year’s theme for Uike K膩toanga’i ‘o e lea faka-Tonga - Tonga Language Week is Fakakoloa 'o Aotearoa 'aki 'a e Ako Lelei, which means enriching Aotearoa with holistic education. - Learn a new phrase in lea faka-Tonga
- Cook something new
- Find out something new about those in your bubble
- Take a different path when going for a walk
- Pick a topic to research not related to a school activity – maybe the History of Tonga, or Tongan Ngat奴
- Read a book
- Play a new game
Some online events and activities will be available and streamed online on the official
